LIVER FIBROSIS PANEL

Liver fibrosis is excessive deposition of connective tissue in the liver with distortion of normal liver morphology. This is seen in chronic liver diseases like infection with Hepatitis C virus, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and due to alcoholism. Advanced fibrosis leads to liver cirrhosis, liver failure & cancer in some cases. Combination of blood tests can be used to predict the degree of liver fibrosis. However the confirmatory test is liver biopsy.
