DIABETES TYPE 1, AUTOIMMUNE PROFILE

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder leading to high blood sugar levels. Type 1 DM is due to destruction of Insulin producing cells in your pancreas. Your body starts reacting & destroying your own insulin producing cells leading to autoimmune diabetes. It usually affects persons below 20 years of age but can affect any age group. These patients require insulin injections to control their blood sugar levels. Common symptoms include increased thirst, frequent urination, hunger, fatigue, weight loss, blurred vision, feeling irritable. If untreated, all organs of the body can suffer damage.
